“The artwork, which shows a naked baby swimming underwater after a dollar bill, was uploaded to the social networking site by the official Nirvana page in preparation for the announcement of the album’s 20th anniversary reissue, but was then removed from the site shortly after.

According to the site, the picture was removed as it violates Facebook’s terms use, in particular a rule which reads: “Facebook does not allow photos that attack an individual or group, or that contain nudity, drug use, violence or other violations of the Terms of Use.” “

I should be angry at Facebook, but to be perfectly honest, I’m no longer surprised with what Facebook get up to anymore. I’m more excited with this awesome boxset coming out 🙂 Finally the halloween concert is getting a release, and I’ve always wanted the Smart Sessions. I may own most of the tracks now, It still will be good to get them officially and remastered 🙂

i wish for a quiet day…

… not just to gather my wits from last weekend back in my hometown of broken hill, but also to catch up with the paperwork and piling up parts that are growing on me.

it’s been pretty full on work wise these last few weeks. We’ve had a salesman through the town a couple of weeks ago and at the moment it’s a game of keep on top of things. don’t get me wrong – more work is good – but I just know this weekend there’s going to be no rest whatsoever.

today was another good example. two bloody DOA parts. On my last trip back to this venue, i’m cruising on 60 ks on a two lane road – in my average sized town – one of the main roads in town. I’m in the left lane, some random yobs in the right trying to overtake me, or to show off. One of the two.
Anyways, we go past IGA Fishers – the so called “independent” supermarket in town and this fifty year old lady is crossing the road slowly, not giving a fuck about the traffic coming along. Typical view – you know the type of person. Not someone to use the traffic lights down the road but not slow enough to hold up anybody. A pain in the arse, mainly. She’s already in the second lane as I pass by her – but the guy in the right lane doesn’t slow down. BAM!
You see wrestling and cheesy Chuck Norris flicks – You never think you’ll ever see an actual person going flying through the air, though. I crank on the brakes, pull up in a delivery park and call 000. They had no one call through but a spare ambo must of been in the vicinity as there’s two of the buggers in not even in 10 minutes. There’s already the guy who hit her and a bunch of ladies from the shopping centre crowding the poor lady (it’s kind of weird – whenever there’s something like this happen it’s always a crowd of ladies the first at the scene) so i hang around with another young guy who was behind me for about 20 minutes to see if anyone wants me to come over and say anything. The lady was alive though – by the time the emergency services got there, I could hear her swearing at the driver from across the road 🙂 Oh yes, our town of Mildura is all about class….. So I head off – there were more than enough witnesses at the shops and they don’t need another person getting in the way…

In positive, or consumerist things – I decided against buying a macbook air. Why? Well, I already own a ipad and the only other reason I would need to use a laptop would be to transfer video and photo files from my camera while I am away. And after a quick Amazon.com search, I discovered that there’s plenty of easier and cheaper ways of doing that as well.

So I got a Play:3 which is the smaller cousin to the huge Sonos S5 unit. A small speaker system which hooks into my network and can play my music collection and online music services like rhapsody and pandora, last.fm etc. I owned a cheaper model for a long time which plugs into my sound system. This one at around 400 bucks was a good deal. I’ve always wanted a seperate speaker version in my room, but the S5/play:5 was a little too pricey for my taste. This thing has less speakers maybe but it’s still loud enough for me to wake me up in the mornings 🙂

Also got a new small TV for the computer room/office. I went all out and got the top of the line for a decent price – a TV tuner, VGA, HDMI, even a bluray player! the speakers may be a little tinny, but this isn’t meant to be an amazing soundsystem – this is for when I’m working or the parents are down here for the weekend and have taken over the lounge room. it’s perfect. the rest of the cash went to some blurays/dvds. the best of WWE discs (yes, i’m a wrestling tragic. again) and the last pizza series to tide me over until the new series of swift and shift couriers starts 🙂

anyways – i should also talk about my BH trip in a more private post, but for now, watch a little more TV and finish off these last couple of beers 🙂

My tv :(

My poor TV decided to die last night.

After a pretty decent night out with some old friends in town for a visit, we spent the night in catching up on the Graham Norton episodes I hadn’t gotten around to seeing yet. Half way through the episode with Bear Gryllis drinking sock filtered water with Cameron Diaz, the Telly switches off and starts clicking. That’s it. Click click click click click as it’s trying its hardest.

Luckily it’s under a year old and definitely under warranty. It’s just annoying that the el cheapo 32 inch I bought years ago is STILL chugging along without a hiccup. Go figure 😉

Noni hazlehurst reads “go the f#%k to sleep”

First there was the brilliant Samuel L Jackson reading. Now we have Noni’s, which mightnt mean much to Americans, but to us Aussie folk who grew up watching her on Play School all those years ago, it’s worth a giggle 🙂
